Dr Kirstin Ferguson

Executive Summary

Dr Kirstin Ferguson is an independent, non-executive director on ASX100, ASX200, private company and government boards. Kirstin is the Chairman of a Remuneration Committee and also Chairman of an Ethics, Compliance and Sustainability Committee. Kirstin brings to her board roles corporate and commercial experience as CEO in international context, as well expertise in risk, compliance, corporate governance, CSR and health and safety.

Kirstin is also the Founder of Orbitas Group, a leading international consultancy specialising in safety governance and safety leadership for senior executives and boards. Kirstin is frequently invited to speak at international conferences, write articles for industry journals and advise multinational corporations in the field. Dr Ferguson was awarded the Colin Brain Fellowship by QUT, as well as the Dr Eric Wigglesworth Medal by the Safety Institute of Australia, for the contribution of her research to the field of corporate governance and workplace health and safety respectively.

Kirstin is a member of Chief Executive Women (CEW), Women Corporate Directors and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD). In 2014, Kirstin was named by the Australian Financial Review as one of Australia’s 100 Women of Influence.

Kirstin has a PhD in leadership and governance, as well as degrees in Law (Honours) and Arts (Honours). Kirstin is also a qualified solicitor admitted to practice law in Queensland and New South Wales. She has previously been awarded a Sir Winston Churchill Fellowship and has been named as the Australian Institute of Management’s Brisbane Young Manager of the Year. Kirstin was also awarded Dux of her graduating RAAF class at the Australian Defence Force Academy.

Kirstin is an Adjunct Professor at QUT School of Business, Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), Graduate of the AICD Company Directors Course and a Graduate of the AICD International Company Directors Course.

    Kirstin is a professional company director with experience on a range of boards including publicly listed ASX100 and ASX200 companies, private companies, government owned corporations, advisory boards and not-for-profit boards.
